In collaboration with Qualia, we explore the conceptualisation of the human experience and its symbolic representation. We translate our physical uniqueness into a 3D digital language, using real-time rotary scanning. This process brings new nuances to “.biox”, our constantly evolving joint work.
Trial and error, optical illusion, perspective studies, technopoetic unconsciousness, narrative dynamics, longed-for landscapes, entering and exiting, and a trigger for meaninglessness: these were some of the tools we used in the creation of ‘ruum’: a journey designed to appropriate and change direction. We became obsessed with the idea of conceiving a set that had its own logic, considering it not only as a context, but as a work of art in itself. We wanted those who experienced it to immerse themselves in their own search for logic.
Our team created an LED light laboratory to explore the manifestation of desires through people’s voices and movements, building a Christmas-inspired intuitive and interactive landscape. The research focused on the artistic and technical capabilities of the LED pixel. During this process, we discovered how light and the spaces conceived around it can be transformed to create a fun atmosphere of discovery.
We knew that dihedral mirrors facing each other would make up the space, and that it would be our luminous visuals that would display incident rays that would bounce and propagate. The rough estimate of the reflections originated: infinite, although there are empirical equations to know this. We model the path of light as a straight line, the so-called ray, and calculate geometrical optics. In the end, it would be the law of reflection that would govern the change of direction of the beams as they bounce off matter.
The LAB is a driving question that we ask ourselves when we start a project. It is what motivates us to investigate new concepts, try new techniques and technologies, and to experiment surpassing the limits of logic and the known. We look for new possibilities and artistic expressions.
Here you will find our experiments, born from tentative ideas that become sensory experiences and new realities.
